United Way of Rhode Island is invested in programs and initiatives that promote quality early child care and education
More than 1,000 children are in higher quality child care and early learning programs as a result of United Way of Rhode Islands support of BrightStars Quality Rating and Improvement System.
We help people acquire the skills they need to provide for themselves and their families
We are invested in workforce development programs that target the needs of economically disadvantaged individuals
Approximately 1,500 people have been placed in jobs as a result of the job-skill development programs supported by UWRI.
We help produce affordable housing and end homelessness
United Way of Rhode Island supports programs to prevent homelessness and to produce affordable housing
Working with our community, United Way of Rhode Island has helped to create more than 900 affordable housing units and enabled more than 140 former chronically homeless individuals find a safe place to live.
We help connect people to the services they need
People needing assistance can get help 24/7. Its free, confidential and available in the language of the caller.
Since June 2007, United Way 2-1-1 in Rhode Island has handled more than 385,000 calls from Rhode Islanders seeking information about food, shelter, housing, and other family-related issues.
We help people in crisis
The March 2010 Flood was one of the worst weather disasters in our states history. We were there to help people affected by the flood get the help they needed, when they needed it most
United Way 2-1-1 in Rhode Island handled 33,000 calls in 30 days and called back more than 15,000 people to check on their status and to see if more help was needed.
