At Countryside, we believe that each child is a unique individual who develops at his or her own pace. We are committed to a balanced learning-through-play environment and are dedicated to the pure enjoyment of childhood and the natural desire to learn and grow.
We provide excellent programs for children ages six weeks through ten years. Our flexibility enables you to design a schedule that meets your needs - ranging from a few hours a week to full-time care. Our curriculm is aligned with the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards which outline a comprehensive system of high quality early childhood programs for young children leading to success in school.
Our modern, spacious facility was built specifically for childcare. Eight classrooms and two outdoor playgrounds are age-divided to offer generous space for multiple gross and fine motor skills activities. Our personnel are highly-qualified, dedicated professionals with a variety of degrees and experience. Most importantly, all have a genuine love for children and the field of early childhood education. In addition, all staff members are CPR certified and complete a minimum of 20 hours of in service training each year. Our school nurse, an RN, is on site 20 hours per week.
Countryside is licensed by the state Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF), as well as by the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE). Formerly accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), we chose not to seek re-accreditation in 2005. Instead, we are focusing our efforts at the state level. The Rhode Island Quality Rating System, currently in draft form, will promote excellence in quality early care and education using community-developed, researched-based standards and criteria. We are affiliate members of NAEYC, as well as the National Association of Child Care Professionals (NACCP).
